Last week I got the pleasure of a little staycation in Sydney with Accor. Our day started at the beautiful Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific, where we had a gorgeous breakfast overlooking the beach as we mentally prepared ourselves for a surfing lesson with pro-surfer and Novotel ambassador, Sally Fitzgibbons, with the help of Manly Surf School. I don’t know if it was Sally and her kind-loving nature, but I definitely did a lot better standing up on the board than I anticipated! Haha definitely something worth trying again!

If you were thinking of visiting Sydney and wanted to try surfing, or already know how to surf and just want a little guide on where to go, Accor have put together a Sydney Surfing Guide with some super helpful tips on surfing etiquette for the novices like me. The article also includes the best spots to surf and handy info like parking and nearby places to eat, if there’s board hire and if it’s a beginner spot (for me) or more suited for the intermediate and advanced levels. The best part of surfing in Manly and staying at Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific is the ease of running back across the road and into the hotel for a shower in your sun-drenched hotel room followed by lunch at Bistro Manly. Later you may find yourself back on the beach again, dog and/or people watching or taking a nice stroll through Manly Corso for some gelato.

After a lovely and healthy lunch designed by Sally and the chefs at Bistro Manly, we took a water taxi over to Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour and checked in.. Wes and I got a huge room with two large beds and two TV’s! Not really sure how two TV’s in one room works but we had it and we loved it. Sally’s in-room (body weight and floor) fitness videos were playing on each TV and there was plenty of room on the floor for both of us to try the work out! Unfortunately getting Wes to work out is like pulling teeth but the videos were inspiring to me!

After a quick look around the gorgeous hotel which included tennis court and pool, we were lucky enough to indulge in some of the signature cocktails on the balcony of The Ternary as well as enjoy some of their entrees. I absolutely loved the prawns and can highly recommend them. We then sat down for the most lush meal I’ve had in a very long time, everyone can attest to how excited I was for all of the courses. The Ternary is a venue I’d definitely recommend and go back to again and again not just for the amazing food but the atmosphere and gorgeous view of the city by sunset into night.

All in all Accor really has it all covered, whether you want a staycation with the smell of the ocean as you rise with the sun, or a city escape with what has got to be the world’s best block out blinds! (seriously, it felt like midnight at 7am… I’ve never seen a room so pitch black before!) I know I can always trust Accor to have a venue to suit my business trip, quick getaway or holiday needs.
