This look is a dress is disguise – a top and shorts to be precise… oh the magic of separates. I have worn this top with so much else, denim shorts, pants, skirts and the outfit looks completely different every time. The waist tie doesn’t even have to always go around the front. So invest in your separates to stretch out your wardrobe, ladies!
Last night I got the honour of spending the evening at Sydney’s MCA in support of the McGrath Foundation. Samantha Wills (of which I’ve been wearing almost too much of, here and here) collaborated with Mount Franklin to raise funds & awareness for Breast Cancer.
As someone who’s had family (my dad) has been affected by cancer I strongly support all charities who look to make a difference in the lives of everyday families around Australia (and the world). So if you see any pink bottles of Mount Franklin at your local then grab a few and know you’ve supported a great cause. In addition there’s a collection of jewellery which can be purchased with a portion going to the charity as well as a stunning slouchy tee – more of that later.
Sharing my love of plaid and the sea in one post. haha #lame. but really. Plaid on plaid is rad. In this look I’m wearing Evil Twin’s new Poison Ivy Dress layered under a drapey chiffon shirt – I’ve done this to fade out the plaid overload a little bit, and gave it that harder edge with the leather. I’ve put a plaid scarf over it because to be honest, it’s the only scarf I have and it was freezing when I shot this. I think mixing prints is fun and experimental. They just have to be the right tones. A good example of this is Angeline from LoveThread, I love the colours and bold prints she’s put together.
General rule of thumb as a blogger is stay away from flash… but then again this is my blog and “I do what I want” as Cartman would put it. I think it’s important for people/ bloggers/ brands to keep expanding their work and experiment with different lighting, places and styles. How else will you grow? This isn’t just a principle I’ve adopted for the blog, but for life all round. Now go do something new!
I designed this dress because I am a huge fan of quirky, bright prints, short skirts & nice tailoring. My bodycon dress phase is kind of all over (for now). I think a fitted shift is the next new thing.
I am loving these mesh t-shirts (Similar styling here) they’re a great investment for summer, maybe it’s a subliminal nod into the NBA season? This stylestalker tee is just rad though. Here I’ve worn it back with these stylestalker perforated leather look shorts, Miu Miu top handle & Spurr heels. Oh and please don’t judge me on my lazy eyes here – I’m just gonna go ahead and blame the haze & glare which restricted me on perfecting my ‘smize’… Sorry Tyra haha
This stylestalker top is everything I love about Fashion. A simple tank that’s been altered to be a gorgeous dress up or down top. This racer front (don’t know what else to call it) top is a nice detail change from your regular tank and the gorgeous peek-a-book lace at the hem brings out ‘farshun’ in any outfit haha.
I’ve styled it back with this Atmos&here leather look quilted skirt I designed, Spurr heels, my fave Hello Parry holographic clutch and MINKPINK sunnies.
If you ever get the opportunity to hit up Bondi boardwalk I do recommend it. I guarantee you’ll find your runners, locals, euro tourists, euro local tourists (these are the ones which consider themselves locals because they’ve lived there for 6 months and hadn’t heard of any other suburb to live in), the token group of asians decked out in pants and jackets in 30 degree weather, camera in hand, standing by the shore, running away from the water & taking group selfies. Bless. And then there’s me, a girl from the burbs livin’ in the city just tryin’ a have a good time with her friends. Taking selfies in my fave new romper.
What I love about this playsuit is the drapeyness and the swingyness, so bring on the wind! I wore this MINKPINK playsuit & sunnies with my Fitz Buckle Sandals by Spurr. Keepin’ it comfy. Keepin’ it real.
I spent the weekend doing next to nothing – I hung out by the beach, climbed rocks & got sandy in the wind and in the evening I took out this gorgeous dress. The next thing I did was watching pretty much the entire season 1 of Game of Thrones. I ate alot of chocolate too.
What I love about The Embers Dress by Cameo the Label here is the neoprene skirt matched back with the organza and mesh – it’s like a sports luxe outfit but not because of it’s gorgeous floral mirror print & sexy sheer but not too revealing top & t-shirt neckline. It’s playing on with the basketball tee trend which is out at the moment but they’ve really taken a risk with the wide mesh – oh wowowow… I just can’t get over the design. I’ve matched it back with these Ducros Cuff Heels in bone by Spurr, I love this colour as it’s so versatile – not too fleshy and not too white.
I thought I’d bring you something different today and show you a glimpse into the start of how this outfit was created and designed – by yours truly. I love my job and having an concept in your head, drawing it down and seeing it get brought to life… What a blessing! See the start of the Melting Diamonds Knit and the Zuko Floral Skater Skirt both by 1&20 Blackbirds available at The Iconic. The bag was a bargain from markets in Thailand and shoes from Spurr also at The Iconic.
