One of the best dresses this summer in my very humble opinion is the oversized tee dress, This one’s from Tobi. I love wearing these dresses street style with boots and a leather jacket when it’s cold enough or to the beach with slides and a cap. They’re perfect for that casual summer look… or when you know you’re going to have a big lunch lol. Opt for a stripe or a tee with a logo on the front so it doesn’t look like you’re just wearing your boyfriend’s pj tee out with no pants that you slept in the night before.
Going into December I’m going to be rolling out some fun videos for you including Christmas gift ideas and even fun things to spoil yourself with (haha because let’s be honest we all kind of do!) Like this cute bag I picked up in Bali, surprisingly it fits alot and I’ve gotten so many comments on it while away and on my instagram so I wanted to share with you all where to pick one up for summer as it’s perfect for the beach!
I’ve worn alot of bikinis in my time and nothing annoys me more than a bikini that’s too tight, which is often the case and why I order a size up (10) to my normal dress size (8). However when I ordered this Grana bikini it was nice to find that it is completely seamless at the edges. Just like your favourite seamless underwear you wear under your bodycon dresses and skirts these bikinis won’t be giving you muffin top! I also got the red one peice which I featured on my instagram here and here. They’re also good if you’re into a little bit more coverage.
There’s no secret I am at the beach every single week at least a few times and of course I have the whole packing your stuff down pat. So alongside my beach towel I’ll pack sunnies, a pair of thongs (flip flops), a book, my phone, a water bottle and most importantly sunscreen. This striped faux leather beach bag from Colette by Colette Hayman fits everything perfectly as well as makes any outfit 10x cuter.
What you need to look for in a denim mini this season is a high waisted a-line with a raw edge like this one I picked up from Glassons. The raw edge gives the mini a less structured, more relaxed feel and the a-line shape (not bodycon) will also add to the casual look, not dig into your thighs and I personally find it more flattering on the body, just make sure you find the right length for you. I like short mini skirts because my legs are actually really short (for my body) but someone with long legs needs a longer length mini which doesn’t flare out as much otherwise it can start to look really chunky.
I’ve paired it back with this white off-the-shoulder blouse and strappy heels for a casual going out look as showing off your shoulders is still a sexy lil thing we should all do once in a while hehe.
I got to spend the day with three of my favourite girls, Helen, Ash and Kiara for Glassons… we went on a fun road trip up to Palm Beach and got to cruise with this amazing vintage 1950s Chevvy! I had such an amazing time and I never take for granted that I get to do the things I love with the best girls around me!
In this look I’m wearing my fave Glassons denim shorts, a lace racer back bralette and layered over it I’ve got this awesome oversized mesh top. Mesh tees are the biggest things right now, they’re perfect for summer because you can layer over bikinis, bralettes as well as singlet tops and it looks different every time. I have it tied up but it also looks great tucked in or undone just hanging over a pair of mom or skinny jeans and sneakers for a more tom boy look.
So get yourself into Glassons because they have literally every style of clothing you need and you can get a whole outfit for under $100!
Last weekend I got the pleasure of jumping on board the Corroboree, a super yacht on Sydney’s Harbour to celebrate Toyota’s Feeling The Street Campaign. This campaign involves thousands of entrants all over the world who are performing on street corners and alleyways with a huge passion for music. I got the pleasure of meeting the winners of the competition and their joy for performing and making music was infectious.
What I love most is that the musicians were so global, they have come from India, Brazil, Italy, Chile and Colombia to create this band which worked so well together. Check out the youtube video and keep an eye out for the music video that was also filmed on the yacht! (Maybe you’ll be able to spot me!)
My blog is ‘Fashion and Sounds’ for a reason, I’ve always loved discovering new, young musical talent and with so many cultures included in this band I’m so honoured to be a part of the first steps of their journey and good luck to the team and thank you to Toyota for allowing me to be a part of this.
Just one hour north of the city of Sydney we arrived at this gorgeous beach villa hideaway known as Kim’s. I got a two storey villa right on Toowoon Bay Beach, literally metres from the crashing waves.
The entire experience is beautiful from the delightful staff, the amazing buffet meals, dual showers, spas, the comfiness of the king sized bed to the ease we had getting to and from the beach.
We were truly blessed by the gorgeous weather we had as well! So thank you to the team at Kim’s I can’t wait to go back.
If you follow me on instagram and snapchat you would have seen that I stayed in a beachside villa on Toowoon Bay on the Central Coast called Kim’s Beachside Retreat. It was such a great long weekend away and I can’t wait to show you more pics of the venue. This is one cute little outfit we shot while walking through the entrance of the resort on our way into the buffet dinner. Yummmm!
As you know I’m a huge fan of layering delicate pieces like this silver choker and necklace from Mejuri. On their site they have it layered and wrapped around a few times I’ve just styled it not layered but draped down my neck. I’ve worn it with this gorgeous low neck lace romper which is always a good idea when you’re in the tropics! Only because it’s breathable and I comfy (especially for a buffet dinner haha).
As we were driving around Perth for a very specific desolate and isolated road we found the perfect one right next to a shipping yard, and for some reason there are very cute, pastel coloured shipping containers on the lot. Of course I had to ‘pretend’ to break in being the try-hard law abiding citizen I am. Nonetheless. The reason I have no pants on is because I didn’t have any. We didn’t plan this shoot and I had nothing with me but a bikini, my fave Nike sweater and my Calvin Klein tee but we have to take every photo op available. Perth is weird. It was kind of bikini weather kind of sweater weather. In future I will pack better. Lesson learnt.
