The Dress Kendall Jenner Sold Me

dress-polkadot-black-boots dress-polkadot-black-boots Bec and Bridge Dress | Prada Bag (similar here) | Sol Sana Boots (similar here) | Kookai Jewellery

It’s not often I get sold on clothes. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE clothes and they all make me happy… but I don’t actually get sold on clothes the way I was with this photo here. There’s something so simple yet so sexy about this mini polka dot dress! What I like most is that it’s not ‘black and white’ it’s natural with black dots, a little bit of a more elevated colour way than black and white which can sometimes come across as quite young.

Now… if only I had the legs and body of Victoria’s Secret model, Kendall Jenner!! hahaha

Mink Pink Co-ordination

Channel your inner Cher with this clueless inspired outfit I’ve put together minus the sweater vest and high socks, but I think this is a nice little homage without going full 90s! I love this statement corduroy set. Wear the jacket or skirt separately or together – either way you’re going to turn heads in this shocking pink ensemble.

One of the best things about spring is the transition from jeans to skirt and coats to jackets. Being able to have your legs out without a 24/7 sweat moustache is my favourite time of the year! Haha so take advantage, Sydney-siders!

Absolut Botanik Upcycle

A lot of people like to stick with what they know and are comfortable with, but I challenge you to try new things as you may be pleasantly surprised from time to time. A new restaurant, a new hair style, a new walking or driving route, a new item on the menu and in this case, a new drink.

So when Alsolut Vodka came out with this new pre-mix flavour by one of my favourite drinks Absolut Botanik, I had to try it: Berry and Lemon… and now I’m hooked! Literally two of my favourite flavours, lemonade and berries! A match made in heaven.

In this post I’ve showcased the lifespan with this new bottle. I’ve taken out to a day in the park, enjoying it as I’m heading to a party with my friends and at the party, and then upclying it (one of my favourite things to do as I try to minimise waste). Then I kept the bottle and used it as a vase for some greenery around the house!

What do you think?! And what will you try out that’s new this week?

Tianna Murkins Dress | Colette Hayman necklace worn as belt | Colette Hayman Bag | Wittner Banin Sneakers | Quay Eyewear

As an alumni of FBI Fashion College,I was sooo excited that I finally get to collaborate with their up and coming fashion design students who have made some truely amazing and beautiful designs. Here I am wearing a dress designed by Tianna Murkins. I love the rose gold fabric which has a dobby stripe through the fabric. She’s cut the pieces of the dress so that they are a-symmetrical and highlight the neckline and catch the light in so many ways, small details which are really the eye of a good designer.

This is only one of the pieces of her collection, not to mention the many other designers that will be on show at Castle Towers from October 5th until October 17th… so if you’re interested in seeing what the Future of Fashion will be, please go check it out!

I’m a huge fan of the mini bag, the cross body and gold detailing, add a few pearls and you’ve found a gorgeous new addition to your spring wardrobe! This little bag is such a statement piece that I don’t recommend wearing it with prints like stripes, polka dots, or florals but let it be the stand out piece of your outfit with solid colours.

So hello Spring and goodbye jackets (finally!) because I have NO TIME for you.

What To Do In Sicily

My boyfriend and I flew into Sicily a couple weeks ago, rented an Audi convertible and cruised the small island off Italy which turned out to be a whole lot bigger than I thought! Below are a couple tips on what to do and how to get around the island:

Places to visit:

fashion-and-sounds fashion-and-sounds fashion-and-sounds fashion-and-sounds 1. Aegadian Islands, these are actually three little islands off the west coast of Sicily. I wanted to visit all of them but only got a chance to do a day trip to the main one, Favignana. We rented bikes for 5 euros (they’ll try rip you off so say you’ll only do 5) and cruised the island all day. Warning: it was HOT and it can be hard in the middle of the day at 30 degrees, if you ride a scooter I recommend you do that instead as the island is quite big and you’ll see more quicker and sweat less – unless you want to sweat! Personally my favourite beach was Cala Azzurra. My boyfriend’s was Blue Marino.

How to get there: catch a ferry from Trapani (where we stayed) this is a port city with great restaurants in the town. Book your ferry beforehand as they get full if you just rock up in the morning.

fashion-and-sounds 2. Isola Bella (Taormina), A gorgeous little island you can walk to from the main island. Isola Bella actually has a little museum on it you can check out for 4 euros or so, from far away you can’t tell there’s anything on it! The museum (was a house) is built into the rock!

We did an excurisone and snorkelled a few spots around the island from Giardini Naxos. The best way to see it!

fashion-and-sounds fashion-and-sounds Taormina the town itself wasn’t as magical as everyone hyped it up to be. It was crazy full of tourists and super windy. If you go on the first Sunday of the month it’s free entry to the ancient theatre which is awesome, but I don’t think I would have wanted to pay 20 euro for entry so we got lucky.

jessie-khoo-sicily fashion-and-sounds fashionandsounds 3. Scala Dei Turchi, You only really need a half or one day at this amazing spot – either early in the morning or late in the arvo, or both which is what we did. Middle of the day to sunset the tourists are out hard and heavy. Try stay one night in the Scala Dei Turchi resort which is literally opposite the entry and walk to the amazing natural white rock ‘stairs’. I loved this spot of Sicily because the rocks were so nice compared to the usual spikey, painful rocks it usually has on it’s coastline.

You’ll have to drive up the mountain if you want any food though as there’s not much else around.

fashion-and-sounds fashion-and-sounds fashion-and-sounds fashion-and-sounds 4. Ortigia, This is gorgeous little town with a rich heritage and possibly the best food I had while in Sicily. Just a stone throw away was Syracusa I liked this place for the cats and how instagrammable it all was. The beaches in the actual town weren’t amazing as it’s all on rocks (very, very aggressive rocks) so we strolled into Syracusa and rented day beds on the beach.

jessie-khoo-sicily jessie-khoo-sicily 5. Laghetti Di Marinello, we only passed through this place but the beach should be considered as one of the natural wonders of the world… it’s a large sandy finger out of the island which looks small but is HUGE. I felt like we walked over a kilometre to get to the beach itself but it was worth it! If we had more time and energy I would have loved to try trek to the very tip, maybe catch a boat as it was massive and the water was so perfect.

Hot Tips:

1. Hire a car, it’s really the only way to get around but Sicily in summer is too hot to drive with the top down in a convertible, and in our case more often than not we had luggage in the boot (trunk) so we couldn’t even put the top down if we wanted to. So don’t waste your money on an a3!

2. Avoid staying right in the main cities as they’re often very crowded, the accomodation is unnecessarily expensive, it’s hard to park in and full of tourists.

3. The autostrata is crazy, the limit is 130kph and Sicilian drivers are ruthless. They’ll drive on the incoming traffic lane to overtake you and this is normal so don’t be alarmed. Just stick to the right side of the road and you’ll get used to it in a couple days.

Asos in Greece

As you know I haven’t been in Sydney for any winter festivals but I’ve been loving life over on this side of the world in Europe and making it a little festival of my own! I’m fully decked out in Asos because it’s one of my favourite online destinations for festival and travel looks because it’s affordable and has so much range!

In this look running the streets of Santorini I’ve put together a cute and fruity colourful tee, a baker boy hat, statement buckle sneakers and of course, denim. Most of my readers know I’m a huge sucker for denim and Asos has a great range from their jeans to skirts and shorts. I got the skirt because it’s perfect for the summer and sooo versatile. I especially love the raw hem to make it even more casual.

Pink, Rose and Gold

Denim, off the shoulder, puffy sleeves, pink shearling, acne boots and the perfect pink clutch makes for one hell of an outfit for a day out in the city. My favourite details are layering fine pieces like the skinny chokers and the long necklace with added sparkle from a star studded brooch I attached to the skirt from Colette by Colette Hayman. It’s understated and really changes up a plain outfit. You can add this brooch to your hair, a jacket, a bag, a top button on a collared shirt – get creative and have fun! And thanks for reading, I trust you all had the best long weekend!

What to do in Caye Caulker

jessie-khoo-fashion-and-sounds-belize-contiki jessie-khoo-fashion-and-sounds-belize-contiki1 jessie-khoo-fashion-and-sounds-belize-contiki2 jessie-khoo-fashion-and-sounds-belize-contiki3 jessie-khoo-fashion-and-sounds-belize-contiki4 jessie-khoo-fashion-and-sounds-belize-contiki5 Earlier this year I got the amazing opportunity to travel to Caye Caulker with Contiki so I’m gonna share with you a couple things about the place if you’re looking to visit this little island. Which I highly recommend you do before it becomes too crowded by tourists!

How to get there:
It’s just a short 45 minute boat ride from the main city of Belize. Once you pull up to the wharf you’re met with an endless supply of palm trees in a row, a haven of colour and the bluest and warmest waters you can find.

How to get around:
To get to your hotel or villa from the wharf you’ll find a golf cart taxi to take you to where you need to go – won’t be long at all because you drive from one end of the island to the other in about 20 minutes, you just don’t want to drag your luggage through the sand. After this I recommend hiring push bikes for your stay or golf carts if you’re not into the peddling. Getting around is so easy because there’s really only one main road but if you’re not inclined to driving or cycling it’s easy enough to get around on foot.

What to do:
- Get a small boat to take you out snorkelling (or diving) to swim in the second biggest coral reef in the world! Second only to The Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. If you can go out to ‘shark alley’ you’ll find yourself in a sea on rays and toothless sharks!! it was the most surreal and amazing moment of my whole life. A bucket list moment!

- Go on foot at night restaurant and bar hopping between all of their delicious places to eat and drink. Everywhere is so friendly and accommodating.

- Jump on a sunset yacht ride

- Buy some souvenirs and support the locals

- Explore the colourful houses and swim at the beach

Thank you to Contiki for this amazing experience! I would have never known such a place exists! Make sure you check out the video at the bottom of the post.

I always get DMs and comments asking about the best places to shop in Sydney usually from people who are visiting or who have recently moved here – one of my personal favourite places to kit out a new wardrobe is Glue Store. Their range of awesome sports brands from Adidas Originals and Nike Sportswear next to international brands like Calvin Klein mixed with their Aussie labels like Mink Pink and A Brand are great to browse through and find a super affordable outfit which is great for uni, work or going out.

I’m usually a very casual dresser so I’m all about the denims and tees so this is my go-to shop for when I want a cool printed logo, stripe tee or jumper to go back with my denims. Also I love their sneakers and watch collection!!

Their biggest store is the one in Central and I recommend that one if you want the best range.
