Let’s all just take a moment to appreciate that Spring is coming up – this means lots of lace and lots of white to bring out that tan. I love the look of pairing nude tones and lace especially if your lace skirt is lined in nude – there’s something super sexy about it. I went one step further and pulled out the nude crop/ bralette from Missguided. You gotta keep the people guessing.
Welcome to my ever dreamy world of flowers and lace, an ethereal land of dreams and perfect harmony. That’s a lie. A huge lie. The preconceived idea that bloggers don’t spend most of their day behind a computer editing, uploading, writing, organising their next shoot is amazing. The fact that viewers call bloggers ‘lucky’ to have this or that opportunity is beyond me. Call me a pessimist but I don’t believe in luck. Nothing you ever want in this world isn’t going to be given to you (unless you’re apart of the few via natural selection to indeed, literally, have things given to you) and you have to work to achieve your goals. This isn’t news to you though.
And I’m not angry, I’m just ranting. I am looking at this series of photos thinking ‘My God, I hope people don’t think I just walk around all day in lace and stilettos eating brunch and take photos of flowers”. I just don’t think I’d get any views if you saw me in my black tee, black jeans, black boots day after day.
In saying this – I do love this look, if I didn’t have to walk up a big hill to get to work I’d wear shoes like this more often. And if I didn’t have a fear in wearing the same dress more than a couple times I’d wear this Keepsake one everyday. I love white. I love white lace. There’s nothing sexier (unless it’s black lace).
It may come as no surprise that I only studied general English in high school – I was never a good writer. My stomach sank at the words ‘explain’ or ‘discuss’. I always tried to fluke my way through by watching the movie (thank you Leo & Claire for Romeo & Juliet) and if I ever actually finished the book I’d pat myself on the back and allow myself a few weeks of procrastination, granted that only happened about once, twice max. But what can you expect from a visual communicator, a creative who doesn’t express themself with words as much as photography, art or textiles? So please forgive me with the odd post of ‘writers block’ of disinteresting copy to read. The only thing I have to offer you is the truth that I’m not fake, I’m not pretending to tell you my farshun blogger life is all that, that I have the most fun all the time, because I don’t. I don’t always like writing, but I don’t like bloggers who don’t write at all, how are your readers ever suppose to relate or get to know your personality or who you are? Ultimately, I do this for you (who is pretty much only my mum).
Shooting here I felt like I was on the set of Gossip Girl, almost ready to see Blair & her minions scheming some vicious plan. I never really understood that, do girls in high school & college actually scheme to take each other down, go out of their way to cause public humiliation? Obviously it’s unavoidable when you have the internet, bullying on tumblr, facebook, instagram & every other social media outlet. It’s sad really because I think the root issue of girls/boys doing and saying nasty thing to each other is because they don’t have any self-respect and need to bring others down in order for them to feel better about themselves. One of my favourite youtube comedy duos is Key & Peele and they really went there with this skit. Check it out.
Wow, well that was a rant. Let’s talk about farshun.
I could totally picture blair in this outfit haha, this LBD has a beautiful guipure lace hem peek-a-booing from under a dupion-esq fabric with a low back, so glam, so Hepburn. Dress from Cameo, shoes are awesome with a metallic heel & clutch from Zu Shoes.
I love this free people dress, I’ve had for a while. They seems to keep bringing it out in new colours, so I guess they’ve found something right and are just rolling with it… it’s so sweet and perfect for the beach.
Matching the bohemian style dress back with this triangl bikini probably isn’t particularly traditional but I don’t mind mixing new textures such as the neoprene & mesh in the bikini back with the voile and lace of the free people dress every so often, it adds dimension and character. Or maybe I’m just making that up because I didn’t have anything else to put with it. Floral head piece from Topshop.
I hope you’ve all had an amazing summer (or winter) so far!
I love lace, I love white, I love cut outs and I love fatty dresses so I can eat as much cake as I wan’t without the food baby. Hence this perfect dress haha. Maybe I’m bias because I helped create this piece but seriously, it’s so cute.
I didn’t wear heels with this one because it’s already so ‘fancy’ with the lace organza and what not so I dressed it down with my Mimco pointy loafer flats, MINKPINK sunnies and Swarovski crystal earrings.
This weekend I’ve pulled out the boho vibe. I love fringing, lace and & chunky statement jewellery. It just sits well. I’ve had this exclusive print kimono cape from Minkpink for years and I still love it. I’ve styled it back with this H&M lace dress, leather Dolce Vita booties from Urban Outfitters, Sunnies from Bailey Nelson & necklace from Sportsgirl.
I am a complete playsuit fanatic, despite the fact that they’re beyond inconvenient to wear when you need to pee. Nonetheless, I love them & I’m so excited to show you this embroidered organza Operator Romper by Cameo The Label styled back with little lace black bralette from Urban Outfitters, cat eye sunnies for Asos & my dove print heels.
Looking alot more free-spirited and romantic than I really am I am wearing Someday’s Lovin’ kimono and Tambourine Lace Playsuit from The Iconic with a pair of clogs I picked up at a thrift store in NYC, floral head piece from TOPSHOP and neck piece from Sportsgirl.
