What you need to look for in a denim mini this season is a high waisted a-line with a raw edge like this one I picked up from Glassons. The raw edge gives the mini a less structured, more relaxed feel and the a-line shape (not bodycon) will also add to the casual look, not dig into your thighs and I personally find it more flattering on the body, just make sure you find the right length for you. I like short mini skirts because my legs are actually really short (for my body) but someone with long legs needs a longer length mini which doesn’t flare out as much otherwise it can start to look really chunky.

I’ve paired it back with this white off-the-shoulder blouse and strappy heels for a casual going out look as showing off your shoulders is still a sexy lil thing we should all do once in a while hehe.

Just checking in! hope you’re all well and loving life. Thought I’d share these unpublished photos Wes and I took while we were on the Central coast. I love this little series because the beach was almost completely empty and I was actually struggling with catching any light (it was about 6pm) and the wind was gale force. But despite this we still managed to do what we love and do best which is capture photos and enjoy the beach.

Hope you’re all having the best weekend and are ready to wrap up the year!!

Feeling the Street

toyota toyota toyota toyota toyota toyota toyota toyota Camilla Under The Medina Moon Roundneck Kaftan

Last weekend I got the pleasure of jumping on board the Corroboree, a super yacht on Sydney’s Harbour to celebrate Toyota’s Feeling The Street Campaign. This campaign involves thousands of entrants all over the world who are performing on street corners and alleyways with a huge passion for music. I got the pleasure of meeting the winners of the competition and their joy for performing and making music was infectious.

What I love most is that the musicians were so global, they have come from India, Brazil, Italy, Chile and Colombia to create this band which worked so well together. Check out the youtube video and keep an eye out for the music video that was also filmed on the yacht! (Maybe you’ll be able to spot me!)

My blog is ‘Fashion and Sounds’ for a reason, I’ve always loved discovering new, young musical talent and with so many cultures included in this band I’m so honoured to be a part of the first steps of their journey and good luck to the team and thank you to Toyota for allowing me to be a part of this.

Sonder Slip Dress | Sonder Mesh Dress | Acne Jensen Boots | Yves Saint Laurent Bag | Sunday Somewhere Valentine Sunglasses

I’ve worn camis layered over tees to death and I’m far from done. I love this look because the tee underneath is a long sleeve, mesh high neck tee. I love the idea of a mesh tees as they are so versatile, you can layer cute shaped bralettes underneath or layer more mesh shirts or tops over it, as well as opaque camis and tanks.

The next time I wear this top I think I’ll wear a black bodysuit under it and tuck it into a pair of high waisted, baggy shorts and belt it.

I literally only have four hair styles: down, half up top knot, pony tail (strictly reserved for the gym) and this two top knot situation. It’s a bit out there sometimes but it really makes a statement which I like.

I love this look for a balmy night out or lunch out with friends. It’s so casual and chic and I love the injections of leather especially my new Love Moschino bag and my shiny new Acne boots I’ve been eyeing off for years… I finally bit the bullet and invested in them! You guys on instagram went mental over my flat lay so I thought I’d share my thoughts on it.

So is it worth the $750 price tag? My favourite type of black ankle boots are chelsea boots – these are boots with elastic on the sides (no zipper) so you can just slip on and off. Well, I’ve gone through about 10 pairs (no joke) of leather and non-leather black chelsea boots, a couple which are blatant rip-offs of these ones which I can easily say equate if not more to the price of the Acnes. All of the boots were same-same but different, the main difference being a variation in heel height. My perfect pair of chelsea boots have a higher heel of around 3 inches ideally however these only come in 1.5 inches.

I love pointed toes but these points are very very pointy… to the point where if you have a larger sized foot I can see them looking a little too big (I’m a size 7 so average on all accounts). So because they’re already almost flat (not a high heel) the boot looks longer than your foot, which may or may not be ideal.

The leather is gorgeous but as all leather does it has a tendency to crease and I’ve seen this on other instagrammer’s posts of these boots. You can tell when they’re doing a flat lay with boots which have been worn and boots that are fresh out of the box. The crease across the top where your foot bends can look annoying but it’s all a part of smooth leather and wearing leather in so unavoidable but it doesn’t always happen with my other leather boots which have a pebbled design on the leather. So if this bothers you I would recommend the textured leather option.

One good point in the design of the shoe is the heel tab, I have had heaps of chelsea boots where the heel tab is aesthetic only and you can’t actually get your finger in the loop to pull the boot on. In other instances I’ve had the tab completely rip off due to poor manufacturing. I’m sure this isn’t going to be the case in this circumstance.

So all in all I recommend this style if you prefer lower heels & don’t mind (really) pointed toes and I would get the textured leather if I could again as scuffs and creases won’t show up as easily.

Hope this was helpful!

Kim’s Beach Hideaway

I got a two storey villa right on Toowoon Bay Beach, literally metres from the crashing waves.

The entire experience is beautiful from the delightful staff, the amazing buffet meals, dual showers, spas, the comfiness of the king sized bed to the ease we had getting to and from the beach.

We were truly blessed by the gorgeous weather we had as well! So thank you to the team at Kim’s I can’t wait to go back.

Not Doing Sports in Sportswear

calvin-klein calvin-klein calvin-klein calvin-klein calvin-klein calvin-klein Calvin Klein Tee Shirt | Nike Premium Crew Neck Panel Sweatshirt | Nike Sneakers

As we were driving around Perth for a very specific desolate and isolated road we found the perfect one right next to a shipping yard, and for some reason there are very cute, pastel coloured shipping containers on the lot. Of course I had to ‘pretend’ to break in being the try-hard law abiding citizen I am. Nonetheless. The reason I have no pants on is because I didn’t have any. We didn’t plan this shoot and I had nothing with me but a bikini, my fave Nike sweater and my Calvin Klein tee but we have to take every photo op available. Perth is weird. It was kind of bikini weather kind of sweater weather. In future I will pack better. Lesson learnt.

High Riser

outfit outfit outfit outfit outfit outfit outfit Tobi Sunny Afternoon Cropped Tank | Set Free Palazzo Pants | Tobi Juno Clutch | Tobi Heels | Missguided Sunnies

I’m officially throwing out all of my low-waisted pants. Why was the year 2000 riddled with them?! I get it, Christina looked hot but they’re not actually flattering in any way, shape or form. They cut your body at your widest point (your hips) which just makes your body and legs look short.

The sad truth is that that trend will probably come back around in a couple years but until then I’m going to actually dress for my body type and that’s wearing high rise pants like these ones. Nothing looks better than accentuating the smallest part of your waist and showing off your curves in the right way. I’ve collaborated with Tobi to put this look together. It’s a funky crop top, palazzo pant number which is casual and head turning at the same time.

The ribbed crop with hook and eyelets are an homage to the sporty scene I love to tap into as well as adding a sexy lingerie feel to it with the eyelets. You can wear this crop with denim, a bomber and sneakers for a more casual vibe or these pants with a strapless bodice to dress it up or jersey t-shirt to dress it down.

Also, the tiny wallet clutch is making a lot of appearances. I love that is perfectly fits my iPhone 6S+, keys and cards! I love mini bags, the smaller the better! They’re so cute and so light. I rarely have big bags as I find I always put stuff I don’t actually need in it… spare sneakers in case you want to go running? sure. Candle in case you want to set the mood? Why not. Typewriter? in you go. #classicme

Puma x Careaux

careaux-nike-asos careaux-nike-asos careaux-nike-asos careaux-nike-asos careaux-nike-asos Nike Court | Puma Reversible Bomber Jacket (Pink/ Beige here) | Asos Jeans (Tall Here) | Le Specs Pharaoh Sunglasses (Gold here)

Mixing your sporty pieces with your non-sporty pieces (like denim) is what I’m all about right now. Think Hailey Baldwin and Kendall. This bomber is so dope, it’s a neat collab between illustrator Careuax and Puma, it’s fully reversible and I’ve been wearing it way more than I thought I would. It’s super warm too, I’m talking warm like a snow jacket and it’s perfect to layer over your sporty crop top for when you’re heading to the gym or just being a boss.

These mom jeans are great for balancing out the tiny-ness of the crop top, if you were to wear skinny jeans it might look slightly hoochie or maybe it’s just me that probably wouldn’t be able to pull it off. I also find that mom jeans or boyfriend jeans aren’t so tight at the waistline so you generally don’t have to deal with ‘muffin top’ yes all girls have this! even the ‘skinny’ ones. LOL. But make sure you keep the casual, sporty vibes with sneakers, anything else will look confusing.

Perched on my face is the best fitting pair of sunnies ever. They’re especially designed with a elevated fit that sit on the bridge of your nose perfectly. This little knitted top and skirt number paired back with these slightly higher ankle boots are perfect for that transition out of winter season which I’m welcoming with open arms. I am loving the retro design on the sweater and fringing on the denim skirt. It’s a nice contrast and juxtaposition which we sometimes need in an outfit.

Here’s to warmer days in Sydney! :)
