One of the latest trends we’ve been seeing off the runway is the corset belt, most notably at Prada where we saw lace up midriff corsets layered over coats and shirts giving fresh life to innerwear as outerwear. I love the lingerie inspired corset belt being utilised in a layered, cool girl capacity rather than looking suggestive.
Here I’ve styled it over an oversized mesh tee and thrown over an oversized open shirt to give the trend an androgynous, sporty, lazy look with the black and white sports inspired stiletto boots. I posted an instagram wearing it over a jumpsuit and under a pink duster to show how else it can be styled. Other ways would be right over the oversized button up shirt with thigh high boots. Get creative and you’ll look like the ultimate cool girl at your next soiree.
Dusty Rose is easily one of my favourite colours this season, it’s not a baby pink, not a mauve but a very specific tone of pink which will transition from summer into autumn perfectly. Also, if you haven’t found yourself jumping onto the velvet band wagon yet please let this dusty pink cami be your segway. Glassons also carry this gorgeous pink crushed velvet slip dress which I styled on my insta here. I saw the cami and dress and although almost the same I needed both haha don’t judge. But with such affordable prices why not!? My favourite part about collecting so much dusty pink over the season is that I can style it all together. I love the duster with the cami and bag – don’t be afraid to double or triple up your colour scheme because it really stands out.
A relaxed little number for day to night. And I don’t mean office to night I mean go out for arvo drinks which turn into the night lol. I have paired this plunging crop top with these textured shorts because sometimes you’re not in the mood for a figure hugging pencil skirt or jeans just aren’t high enough! (a girl’s gotta eat and I don’t want any unsolicited rolls!). As a safety net & an element of casualness I’ve added my favourite go-to silk button up as a cover up. Because it’s silk it’s gorgeously drapes over your shoulders without it looking corporate and if it were to get chilly in the night then just wear it open and roll up the sleeves a couple times.
I thought I’d get a little festive with this crimson velvet slip number keeping it merry and bright but also sexy and casual with black booties and mirrored sunnies. I’m never fully on party mode lately and I rarely get dressed up and when I do I have to bring it back down to earth somehow with sneakers or boots haha.
With the party season coming up I thought I would stop into Topshop to pick out some fun party peices. I grabbed this sick denim mini which has these lace up details, a little change up from your normal denim mini and the fit is perfect! Also, this cami is perfect to go back with denim shorts, jeans or skirts… dress it up or down I don’t think you can ever really have enough black camis! My faveourite peice is this floral embroidered leather bag with this chunky silver chain it’s honestly the coolest bag ever that isn’t over $2000!
One of the best dresses this summer in my very humble opinion is the oversized tee dress, This one’s from Tobi. I love wearing these dresses street style with boots and a leather jacket when it’s cold enough or to the beach with slides and a cap. They’re perfect for that casual summer look… or when you know you’re going to have a big lunch lol. Opt for a stripe or a tee with a logo on the front so it doesn’t look like you’re just wearing your boyfriend’s pj tee out with no pants that you slept in the night before.
What you need to look for in a denim mini this season is a high waisted a-line with a raw edge like this one I picked up from Glassons. The raw edge gives the mini a less structured, more relaxed feel and the a-line shape (not bodycon) will also add to the casual look, not dig into your thighs and I personally find it more flattering on the body, just make sure you find the right length for you. I like short mini skirts because my legs are actually really short (for my body) but someone with long legs needs a longer length mini which doesn’t flare out as much otherwise it can start to look really chunky.
I’ve paired it back with this white off-the-shoulder blouse and strappy heels for a casual going out look as showing off your shoulders is still a sexy lil thing we should all do once in a while hehe.
I got to spend the day with three of my favourite girls, Helen, Ash and Kiara for Glassons… we went on a fun road trip up to Palm Beach and got to cruise with this amazing vintage 1950s Chevvy! I had such an amazing time and I never take for granted that I get to do the things I love with the best girls around me!
In this look I’m wearing my fave Glassons denim shorts, a lace racer back bralette and layered over it I’ve got this awesome oversized mesh top. Mesh tees are the biggest things right now, they’re perfect for summer because you can layer over bikinis, bralettes as well as singlet tops and it looks different every time. I have it tied up but it also looks great tucked in or undone just hanging over a pair of mom or skinny jeans and sneakers for a more tom boy look.
So get yourself into Glassons because they have literally every style of clothing you need and you can get a whole outfit for under $100!
I’ve worn camis layered over tees to death and I’m far from done. I love this look because the tee underneath is a long sleeve, mesh high neck tee. I love the idea of a mesh tees as they are so versatile, you can layer cute shaped bralettes underneath or layer more mesh shirts or tops over it, as well as opaque camis and tanks.
The next time I wear this top I think I’ll wear a black bodysuit under it and tuck it into a pair of high waisted, baggy shorts and belt it.
I literally only have four hair styles: down, half up top knot, pony tail (strictly reserved for the gym) and this two top knot situation. It’s a bit out there sometimes but it really makes a statement which I like.
I love this look for a balmy night out or lunch out with friends. It’s so casual and chic and I love the injections of leather especially my new Love Moschino bag and my shiny new Acne boots I’ve been eyeing off for years… I finally bit the bullet and invested in them! You guys on instagram went mental over my flat lay so I thought I’d share my thoughts on it.
So is it worth the $750 price tag? My favourite type of black ankle boots are chelsea boots – these are boots with elastic on the sides (no zipper) so you can just slip on and off. Well, I’ve gone through about 10 pairs (no joke) of leather and non-leather black chelsea boots, a couple which are blatant rip-offs of these ones which I can easily say equate if not more to the price of the Acnes. All of the boots were same-same but different, the main difference being a variation in heel height. My perfect pair of chelsea boots have a higher heel of around 3 inches ideally however these only come in 1.5 inches.
I love pointed toes but these points are very very pointy… to the point where if you have a larger sized foot I can see them looking a little too big (I’m a size 7 so average on all accounts). So because they’re already almost flat (not a high heel) the boot looks longer than your foot, which may or may not be ideal.
The leather is gorgeous but as all leather does it has a tendency to crease and I’ve seen this on other instagrammer’s posts of these boots. You can tell when they’re doing a flat lay with boots which have been worn and boots that are fresh out of the box. The crease across the top where your foot bends can look annoying but it’s all a part of smooth leather and wearing leather in so unavoidable but it doesn’t always happen with my other leather boots which have a pebbled design on the leather. So if this bothers you I would recommend the textured leather option.
One good point in the design of the shoe is the heel tab, I have had heaps of chelsea boots where the heel tab is aesthetic only and you can’t actually get your finger in the loop to pull the boot on. In other instances I’ve had the tab completely rip off due to poor manufacturing. I’m sure this isn’t going to be the case in this circumstance.
So all in all I recommend this style if you prefer lower heels & don’t mind (really) pointed toes and I would get the textured leather if I could again as scuffs and creases won’t show up as easily.
