It’s easy to jazz up a simple, casual outfit like a shirt and denim jacket. What I’ve done is pulled up the collar, cuffed up with jacket sleeves twice, pushed the sleeves up a little and tugged out the chambray shirt from underneath. Note* I didn’t roll the chambray shirt cuff up. This is to avoid too much bulkiness. I didn’t want the shirt to be fully tucked in because it looked too top heavy with the oversized ‘boyfriend’ jacket so I did a half tuck with one half of the shirt which frames and separates the black jacket and denim shorts nicely. Add little black boots and hey you’ve got a simple, casual outfit that anyone can pull off!
This colour palette turns heads. Fact. There’s something about white jeans and an off the shoulder top that’s the epitome of sexy casual. My favourite part of this look is the rose gold accents and pearls which really pair back well with the matte satin shine in the top. Layer a tan or ivory coat for winter and you’re good for the night!
Khaki olive is just one of those colours we need to have in our wardrobes. If you’re not a huge colour person like me, but want to introduce some into your outfits you need to invest in khaki. It’s subtle and there’s a reason why it’s the base colour of all army and military uniforms. It’s meant to blend in and it’s not an in your face colour or a colour that goes out of style.
I’ve matched it back with black denim because I didn’t want to be too colourful pairing it with blue or navy denim (lol). I do find that when I wear blue denim it’s always with a white, grey or black top. Not intentional, but kind of intentional. I just like investing in staple colours! Sue me
All white is one of my fave looks to wear ever. I particularly love mixing materials to add that extra element of interest such as this silk shirt with a denim skirt & perspex heels. The slightly higher boot trend has really taken off this season. Its higher than your regular ankle boot and sits just under your calf. I think it’s going to be even more popular next year as more people get used to it. A lot of these styles of boots are neoprene which is a stretchy wetsuit type of fabric otherwise they’re patent leather or like this PU plastic material. These boots are particularly kick ass because they’re clear with an awesome lace up detail on the side. Subtle and sexy.
I’m in love with the drapey blush-ness of this dress. The side splits and balloon sleeves give the simple tunic style that added detail. I have layered it over a light pink leather look mini skirt so the wind doesn’t blow it between your legs since the fabric is so soft (you know what I mean, right?) as well as giving it that contrast, and hey, I’ll take any warmth I can get… it’s winter after all.
I’m loving all the accessories from the long line necklace to the laser cut out clutch, strappy heels and gemstone chain bracelet. And my hair has had a nice little re-vamp from Barney Martin hair team! It’s creamier and blonder and softer and stronger. I’d definitely recommend their services if you’re on the hunt for a new hairdresser
I’m not a huge bohemian style dresser but I have a deep appreciation for lace and it’s intricacy, so when I saw this lace sleeved double breasted blazer I fell in love and yes, had to have it. It’s a beautiful mix of chic style and tailoring. I’ve layered it under a blush double breasted sleeveless coat because #winterishere and wore my blush boots and white jeans just to look like a trendy, walking bag of marshmellows. I highlighted the accents on the coat with rose gold earrings and rings as I try not to mix my metals too much as I like to keep things minimal since the statement jewelry is already alot.
I’m going to go ahead and say it’s totally fine to go out for a pre-coffee drink before actual drinks. Anyone that knows me knows that a few drinks send me straight to nap-ville so I don’t mind a sneaky espresso before I go out hahah.
In this look I’m wearing the gorgeous bustier with sleeves that drape down the arm paired with a high waisted leather look mini skirt. As usual I’m wearing lace up booties and as usual a lot of it (all of it) is black.
I’m not going to lie to you. I didn’t work out before or after these shots. I’ve been stupidly sick due to the unnecessarily huge drop in temperature & my body was a little in shock so I haven’t been able to work out this week unfortunately. I guess they call it winter weight for a reason *sad face*.
Nonetheless, I do LOVE this outfit. I have a few of these Bonds active mesh tanks and I can confirm they’re great for sweating in. The bomber is super light so it’s good to chuck on on your way to the gym and wear until you’re warm enough to show off the tank or bra top! There’s a matching one in the slider bar below which I also love. I’m not an overly colourful colour wearing person at the gym, the occasional colour pop in sneakers or crop top is okay but I am totally down with this monochrome sporty look any day of the week.
Do you prefer wearing brights colours or black, white & grey at the gym?
There’s nothing cosier than a fleecy pullover in winter. Working from home I live in them everyday & why wouldn’t I stock on on something I wear 7 days a week! hahah
Just checking in on this weekend edit and giving you the low-down on what’s been happening. I’ve officially moved into full time blogging (yay!) as well as creating content and still designing freelance. I set up a cute studio in my home (apartment) and despite all the extra hours I’m getting to work on the blog I still find myself working 7 days a week. How?? I guess the reality with blogging is that social media never turns off so you can’t either.
I do occasionally let myself have social media detox days where I don’t post or check instagram or any outlet I can’t be bothered with as it just de-stresses me and clears my head. Something that everyone who’s addicted to social media should do every so often.
I’ve gotten so much wear out of this salt and pepper coat and undeniably my favourite colour to match back to it is of course black and more black. I’m also obsessing over these OTK lace up boots as well and I’ve found so many ways to style them.
1. Like so with a hitched up bodycon ribbed knit dress & mid-length pea coat
2. A thigh high split midi skirt, tee & short coat or jacket
3. With shorts, knit top and a long coat
And they’re surprisingly warm! Like all OTK boots I guess.
